For the widows who want to date again: what you should know~

It’s not unusual for a widow/er to eventually try to get back into the dating world, and one of the easiest ways to do so is to join a dating site.

Suffice it to say, the horror stories about such things are quite common in widowhood support groups.

After my own dating nightmares, as well as behind the scenes administrative work for various dating sites, I have learned a thing or thirty.

And the first thing would be to warn people that things are completely different than they “used to be.”

I have seen countless disillusioned widows post in various groups about the crazy things they have encountered.

Some of these things are:

• The potential date tries to impress the Dating Widow with an unsolicited photo of their reproductive organs.
• The potential date slides into the Dating Widow’s DMs and asks for nude photos. (And sometimes this is less of an ask and more of a demand. True story!)
• The potential date bails entirely after learning the Dating Widow is in fact, a widow.
• The potential date becomes a steady date only to become bitter about the fact that their new partner still holds love for his/her/their deceased spouse.
• The potential date is a scammer.

And so on, so forth…
